Pine oil is an easily acquired essential oil with a variety of uses. It is produced through steam distillation of the needles of anynumber of species of pine tree.  It possesses mild antisepticproperties; hence, its inclusion in many household cleaners.  It isadvised, though, that one obtain a high-quality pure pine oil, as manylow cost pine oils are diluted with turpentine or other potentiallyharmful adulterants.

Pine essential oil is indicated for infections of the respiratory tract as well as of the urinary tract.  It can also be used in massage to soothe stressed muscles and joints.  In fact, it can be applied topically to alleviate arthritic conditions.  When inhaled it promotes a feeling of revitalization and helps calm anxiety.  Anyone who has experienced the pleasant aroma of a pine forest can attest to this.
