Graves’ Disease
Here’s something I wrote in 2009, when a soon-to-be daughter-in-law needed my help.
Well, my knowledge base is about to be expanded exponentially. I’m going north to try my hand at helping to heal a young girl with sudden onset Graves Disease. This is an autoimmune disease that creates too much thyroid hormone. They want to give her radioactive iodine, kill her thyroid, and eventually surgically remove it-thus relegating her to eternal dependence on synthetic medication.
This family has chosen to go the herbal and oil route, with many Walker Breakfasts, healing walks in the sunshine, and daily massages to help the elimination channels of the body properly function-and thus heal the body.
Hey, did you know that the essential oils of Myrrh, Spruce, and Blue Tansy can be helpful with this? (Yes, there are others too)
Myrrh has very high level of sesquiterpenes-compounds that directly affect the hypothalamus, pituitary, and amygdala glands.
Spruce is often used to help support glandular imbalances. (We love it for easing aching joints, and bringing peace to our minds.) This can even be added to your food as a flavoring or dietary supplement. This gives a new twist to the phrase “let’s spruce it up”, doesn’t it?
Blue Tansy: this also has sesquiterpenes in it, and in addition to spruce, also reduces pain and helps sedate the nerves.
In addition, Lemongrass is anti-inflammatory and sedative. It promotes lymph flow-exactly what we are looking for. We’re going to combine lemongrass and myrrh oils for optimum effectiveness.
Please note: I am not giving out medical advice. I am merely a firm believer in the healing power of herbs n’ oils-healthy food, and proper rest.
The Fragrant Note
