…that light fragrances are called ‘top notes’, while the more steady, heady, musky scents are classified as ‘middle’ or ‘bass’ notes?
Top Notes
- Normally evaporate quickly
- Usually have anti-viral properties
- Tend to be light, fresh and uplifting
- Generally not very expensive
- Work Great in nebulizers
Middle Notes
- Most essential oils considered middle notes
- Give body to the blend
- Have a balancing effect
- Not always instantly evident, take a moment to appear
- Usually warm, soft fragrances
- Not recommended for Glass Jet Diffusers
Bass Notes
- ‘Heavy’ oils with evident fragrance
- Can also appear slowly, then be present for a long time
- May slow down evaporation of other oilsIntense and heady
- Often rich and relaxing
- Most expensive of all oils
- Do not diffuse easily
